Naomh Colum Cille Hurling and Camogie Notes

An Fhoireann Sinsir played their final game of the season last Saturday in the senior championship final at Healy Park in Omagh. County champions Éire Óg proved a bridge too far for NCC, running out convincing winners in the end. The search for our first Benburb Cup continues but the players and management can take great pride in reaching our first final since 2011. An Cumann NCC wishes to thank the Gaels of East Tír Eoghain for their stellar support in the build up to the final. It was uplifting and heartwarming to see the Black and Red flags and good luck messages around the locality. We would also like to thank the many businesses, families and individuals for their kind sponsorship in the run up to the big game, providing vital 'oil for the engine!' Ádh mór oraibh to the Carmen as they go on to represent us all in the Ulster club championship, starting this coming weekend with a tough opening round game against Naomh Pádraig of Lisbellaw and Fermanagh. NCC would also like to wish our neighbours Eoghan Ruadh all the best in their Ulster club campaign.

Ógra NCC hurling and camogie coaching is on a break at the minute but that didn't dampen the spirit of our faoi 7.5 and faoi 9.5 hurlers last Saturday as they ran out at Healy Park at half-time of the senior final. The lads treated the big crowd to some fine skills and hurled their hearts out against An Ómaigh agus Éire Óg. Míle buíochas once again to the coaches and parents for making sure that NCC were well represented on the day.
Keep an eye on the WhatsApp groups and social media for details of our return to training over the next wee while.

Comhghairdeas to our senior hurler Chris Kearns on being selected at right half back on the Ring/Rackard/Meagher team of the year. Chris put in a number of stirring performances and played a vital role in Tyrone's Nicky Rackard winning campaign. This award will sit nicely alongside The Irish News All-Star on Chris' mantlepiece!

Duirt Siad "Tiocfaidh ár lá!" - comment from a Cilles' supporter in the aftermath of Saturday's Corn Binne Boirbe decider.
